Hanna Instruments Donates to the 2012 "International Enhanced Stem Education Project"

SMITHFIELD, RI- March 21, 2012 - Hanna Instruments, an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer of electro-analytical instrumentation, is pleased to announce the donation of three of its Backpack Lab© Science Test Kits to the International Enhanced Stem Project for 2012 called “The Cabo Verde Tenth Island Project.”

The “Cabo Verde Tenth Island Project“ will bring together students and teachers from 34 countries around the world to Santa Luzia, the sole island of Cape Verde which is currently uninhabited. The students will find better and safer ways to grow food, manage fish farms, reduce dependence on oil, live healthier lives, turn salt water into freshwater, predict hurricanes, reduce pollution, build cost effective communities, invent better technology, create jobs, fix the health-care problems and to create economic opportunities for improved trade between communities.

Students and teachers will use iPhones, iPads, and Mac & PC computers, STEM websites, custom teacher and student productivity science software for this project.

Hanna Instruments' donation of their Water Quality Backpack Lab , Soil Quality Backpack Lab and Marine Quality Backpack Lab will help students and teachers test for important quality parameters in water and soil to ensure safe drinking water and proper nutrition of plants.

“We see this as a great opportunity to incorporate science with a 21st century way of learning”, said HANNA USA President David Minsk. “The backpack lab is ideal for on-site measurements and has everything teachers will need to teach students how to test for these crucial parameters on the island.”

The "Cabo Verde Tenth Island Project" is administrated by Bob Barboza, an educator, journalist, software designer, CEO and founder of Super School University, Kids Talk Radio, Super School Teen TV, Super School Press, and Youth World News. He will communicate throughout this experience on Kids Talk Radio, an Internet radio station with a special science channel that reports news about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
