SMITHFIELD, RI _ (April 24, 2012) Hanna Instruments is proud to announce the HI 9829, its newest Portable GPS Multiparameter Meter. This meter has the ability to test over a dozen water quality parameters and comes equipped with a field replaceable ISO 7027 compliant turbidity sensor, ammonium, chloride, and nitrate ISE’s, as well as logging capabilities from the probe or meter.

This meter has a backlit LCD screen that automatically sizes the digits and allows full configuration of each parameter measured, units and language selection and on-screen graphing. Combined with one of the HI 76x9829 series probes, the HI 9829 can measure water quality parameters such as pH, ORP, conductivity, turbidity, temperature, ions ammonium, nitrate, chloride, dissolved oxygen, resistivity, TDS, salinity, and seawater. Each parameter is fully supported by the on-screen context sensitive help both in the calibration mode and during measurements.

For monitoring and recording data, HI 9829 is equipped with Hanna’s exclusive Fast Tracker, Tag Identification System (T.I.S.). iButton s with unique ID numbers can be installed at various sampling sites and are used to record specific location information when logging, that can be easily transferred to a PC.

Hanna Instruments Donates to the 2012 "International Enhanced Stem Education Project"

SMITHFIELD, RI- March 21, 2012 - Hanna Instruments, an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer of electro-analytical instrumentation, is pleased to announce the donation of three of its Backpack Lab© Science Test Kits to the International Enhanced Stem Project for 2012 called “The Cabo Verde Tenth Island Project.”

The “Cabo Verde Tenth Island Project“ will bring together students and teachers from 34 countries around the world to Santa Luzia, the sole island of Cape Verde which is currently uninhabited. The students will find better and safer ways to grow food, manage fish farms, reduce dependence on oil, live healthier lives, turn salt water into freshwater, predict hurricanes, reduce pollution, build cost effective communities, invent better technology, create jobs, fix the health-care problems and to create economic opportunities for improved trade between communities.

HANNA USA Helps Local High School’s Science Olympiad Team

SMITHFIELD, RI- (March 16, 2012) On March 1, 2012, HANNA Instruments USA proudly made a donation of scientific instrumentation to the Woonsocket High School Science Olympiad team.

Four high school seniors along with their teacher, Ms. Sophie McGarrity, visited HANNA to meet with HANNA’s Marketing Team and to receive their Backpack Labs, an all-in-one educational lab product, which will assist them in their upcoming competition.

Hanna Instruments, Inc. Releases Industry First Titrator with a 40,000 step burette dosing pump for Lab, Environmental, Food and Industry Applications

WOONSOCKET, RI- January 30, 2012 - Hanna Instruments is pleased to announce the release of two new automatic titration systems utilizing an industry first 40,000 step dosing pump.

The HI 903 Karl Fischer Volumetric Titrator and the HI 902C2 two channel Potentiometric Titrators are the latest products in the Hanna family of scientific analytical instrumentation. Designed to streamline and simplify the titration process, these two units offer an excellent balance of features, accuracy and price.

The HI 903 Karl Fischer Volumetric Titrator conducts moisture analysis, combining an ultra-precise titrant delivery system with a magnetic stirrer, sophisticated endpoint determination and background drift correction algorithm. The titrant delivery system is capable of dosing as little as 0.125 µL of titrant maintaining a minimal amount of drift rate. The HI 903 also features a unique anti-diffusion tip preventing unwanted diffusion of titrant into the solvent. These features allow for a 0.1% accuracy when measuring water content from 100 ppm to 100%. The HI 902 Potentiometric Titrator supports two analog inputs allowing sequential titrations to be performed with different sensors for the precise analysis of acid/base, ISE, Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP), and complexometric reactions. The HI 902 uses the same 40,000 step dosing pump as the HI 903 for the precise dosing of titrant used in end point determination.

Both titrators offer Hanna’s unique “Clip LockTM” Exchangeable Burette system for quickly and easily swapping burettes with reagents used to perform different titrations. The Clip Lock system prevents cross contamination since a separate burette can be used for each titrant. Having the ability to swap burettes reduces the time it takes to change reagents for a separate titration since the titrant does not have to be purged from the burette. The other advantage of the Clip Lock Exchangeable Burette system is the ability to utilize burettes of different sizes (5, 10, and 25 mL) allowing for flexibility in the accuracy (0.1% full burette volume) and the minimum amount of titrant that is dosed.

Each unit offers a large, easy to navigate color LCD and can be connected to a PC using Hanna software. At the end of titration, all data is automatically stored in memory and can be copied via the included USB flash drive or through direct connection to a PC.

SMITHFIELD, RI- (January 4, 2012) HANNA Instruments USA is excited to officially announce the location of its new, expanded location. Over the past two weeks, HANNA USA has moved from its former location in Woonsocket, RI to a brand new 35,000 square foot facility located at 270 George Washington Highway, in Smithfield, RI.

This new facility provides a state-of-the-art work place for its employees, and will continue to serve as HANNA USA’s Headquarters. Previous to the move, HANNA Instrument’s USA and International branches shared a building that was remodeled and expanded in 2008.

“This building will allow us to be more productive with our state-of-the-art, larger warehouse, that is equipped with more advanced packaging and shipping instrumentation”, said HANNA USA President David Minsk. “Having a larger facility allows our company to continue on its road of expansion with ease.”

Employees are excited about the new building, and the positive changes it will bring for the company in the future.

“Our new building came at a perfect time,” said HANNA USA’s Marketing Manager Kimberly Andrade. “Our company is growing rapidly and we now have the room to flourish and expand.”

WOONSOCKET, RI- (September 7, 2011) HANNA Instruments USA is excited to announce the location of its new, expanded building. In mid-October, HANNA USA will be moving from its current home at 584 Park East Drive, Woonsocket, RI, to a brand new 35,000 square foot facility located at 270 George Washington Highway, in Smithfield, RI.

The new facility will provide a state-of-the-art work place and will continue to serve as HANNA USA’s Headquarters. Currently, HANNA’s USA and International headquarters are housed at the same location that was remodeled and expanded in 2008.

“Our new building will allow us to be more productive with its larger warehouse that will accommodate the increase in product demand with more advanced packaging and shipping instrumentation”, said HANNA USA President David Minsk. “Having a larger facility allows our company to continue on its road of expansion with ease.”

Employees are also anxious for the company’s big move, which is tentatively scheduled for the second week in October 2011.

“The new facility will provide a more organized and structured sales force,” said Sales Market Manager Gary Parenteau. “We’re all excited to see the building as a finished product.”

Hanna Instruments Launches New Calcium Colorimeter on the Checker HC Line

WOONSOCKET, RI- (July 18, 2011) Hanna Instruments is excited to introduce the new calcium colorimeter to the Checker HC line. The new digital HI 758 Calcium Checker HC is an easy-to-use colorimeter for saltwater calcium testing, which is ideal for aquaculture and aquariums applications.

Calcium presence in water supplies results from passage over deposits of limestone, dolomite, gypsum and gypsiferous shale. Its concentration may extend from 0 to several hundred milligrams per liter, depending on its source and treatment. Calcium is necessary in plant and animal nutrition since it is an essential constituent of bones, shells and plant structures. Calcium in water as carbonate is one of the primary components of water hardness which can cause pipe or tube scaling.

The HI 758 Calcium Checker HC is extremely simple to use. First, zero the instrument by adding Reagent A, deionized water and 0.1 mL of sample into the vial. Insert into the HI 758 and press the button. Next, remove the vial and add Reagent B and shake to dissolve. Reinsert into the Checker HC and press the button to read the calcium concentration in parts per million on the display. It’s that easy!

HI 755 Alkalinity Checker Update

During the past 3-4 weeks, we have been analyzing various solutions for improving the process of the HI755 alkalinity checker.

I am pleased to announce that we have reached a solution that will both improve the procedure, and enhance the accuracy of the checker over a wider range of alkalinity levels.

The solution involves replacing the HI755-25 powder reagents with HI755-26 liquid reagents. The performance of the liquid reagents was benchmarked against the results of an automatic titrator in seawater aquarium samples. These repeated tests showed consistency in performance within our original accuracy specifications of (+/-5% of reading, +/- 5 PPM.

In addition, the measurement time has been reduced to less than 30 seconds because the liquid reagents do not possess the same solubility issues as the powder reagents.

Our plan is to offer a free upgrade kit to all our customers. The kit will include the liquid reagents, a new revision of the instructions, and some spare caps for the cuvettes.
